Choose the method that interests you, enter your details, and get an instant friendship percentage. The name method looks at Chaldean numerology and shared letters, while the date-of-birth method uses a Life Path-style number calculated from the full birth date.

These results are designed for fun and self-reflection, not as a scientific measurement of a real friendship.

How to Use the Friendship Calculator

You can use the calculator above in two different ways.

Friendship Calculator by Names

Choose By Name when you want a quick friendship percentage based on the letters in two names.

Enter your name and your friend’s name, then select Calculate Friendship Percentage. The calculator converts the letters into Chaldean numerology values, compares the resulting root numbers, and adds a small shared-letter adjustment.

This method is useful when you want a fast friendship calculator by names without entering birth details.

Friendship Calculator by Date of Birth

Choose By Date of Birth when you want to compare two complete birth dates instead of names.

Enter your date of birth and your friend’s date of birth. The calculator derives a Life Path-style number from each full birth date and compares those numbers using the same numerology-inspired compatibility table.

This gives you a different kind of friendship compatibility by date of birth because the calculation is based on birth-date numbers rather than the spelling of your names.

✧

How the Friendship Calculator by Names Works

The name mode starts with the Chaldean letter-value system used by the calculator. Each letter has a numerical value from 1 to 8.

The process is:

  1. Each letter in both names is converted into its Chaldean value.
  2. The values are added together to create a name number.
  3. The number is reduced while preserving 11, 22, and 33 as Master Numbers.
  4. The corresponding root numbers are compared using our custom numerology-inspired compatibility table.
  5. A small Master Number bonus may be added.
  6. A shared-letter bonus is then calculated from the unique letters appearing in both names.

The final friendship percentage calculator score is therefore:

Base compatibility + Master Number bonus + shared-letter bonus

It is a consistent formula rather than a random number, but the percentage itself is a custom entertainment score, not a scientifically validated measure of friendship.

Friendship Percentage Calculation: Name Example

Let’s use Aarav and Priya as an example.

Step 1 — Chaldean values

Aarav: A=1, A=1, R=2, A=1, V=6
Total = 11

Priya: P=8, R=2, I=1, Y=1, A=1
Total = 13 → 4

Step 2 — Root numbers

Aarav’s 11 has a root of 2. Priya’s 13 reduces to 4.

Step 3 — Base compatibility

The 2–4 pairing has a base compatibility score of 80 in our calculator’s custom matrix.

Step 4 — Master Number bonus

Aarav has 11, so the calculator adds +2.

Step 5 — Shared-letter bonus

The unique letters in AARAV are A, R and V. The unique letters in PRIYA are P, R, I, Y and A. The shared letters are A and R, producing a +5 shared-letter bonus.

Final result

80 + 2 + 5 = 87%

So entering Aarav and Priya in the name mode produces a 87% friendship match.

How Does a Friendship Calculator by Date of Birth Work?

A friendship calculator by date of birth uses birth-date information instead of letters.

In our DOB mode, the full date is separated into month, day and year. Each part is reduced, then the three values are added together and reduced again while preserving 11, 22 and 33 as Master Numbers.

The resulting number is treated as a Life Path-style number for this calculation.

The two numbers are then converted to their root values and compared using the calculator’s numerology-inspired compatibility table.

Unlike the name mode, the DOB mode does not use:

  • shared letters
  • name spelling
  • Chaldean name values

It is based entirely on the two dates of birth.

✧

Friendship Compatibility by Date of Birth: Example

Suppose one friend was born on 14 March 2001 and the other on 27 July 2002.

For 14 March 2001:

  • Month = 3
  • Day = 14 → 5
  • Year = 2001 → 3
  • 3 + 5 + 3 = 11

The first Life Path-style number is 11, with root 2.

For 27 July 2002:

  • Month = 7
  • Day = 27 → 9
  • Year = 2002 → 4
  • 7 + 9 + 4 = 20 → 2

The second number is 2.

The 2–2 base compatibility score is 84. Because the first result is the Master Number 11, the calculator adds +2.

Final DOB friendship score = 86%

This example also shows why the name and date-of-birth versions can produce different percentages for the same two people.

✧

Name vs. Date of Birth: Which Should You Use?

Both methods answer a slightly different question.

MethodWhat It Uses
By NameName letters, Chaldean values, root numbers and shared-letter overlap. Quick, only requires two names.
By Date of BirthComplete birth dates to derive Life Path-style numbers. Does not depend on the spelling of a person’s name.

Choose the name method when you want a quick friendship calculator by names. Choose the DOB method when you specifically want to explore birth date compatibility.

There is no requirement for both methods to produce the same result. They use different inputs and therefore can naturally give different scores.

✧

Why Do Different Friendship Calculators Give Different Results?

Not every friendship calculator uses the same formula.

One site might use simple letter counting, another might use a FLAMES-style method, and another may use numerology numbers derived from names or dates of birth.

Even two date-of-birth calculators can produce different results if they use different reduction rules, number pairings or interpretation systems.

That is why our calculator explains its method instead of presenting the percentage as a scientific fact.

The important thing is consistency: when you enter the same information again, this calculator follows the same formula and produces the same score.

How to Find Your Friendship Percentage

Finding your friendship percentage takes only a few steps:

  1. Choose By Name or By Date of Birth.
  2. Enter both names or both complete birth dates.
  3. Click Calculate Friendship Percentage.
  4. Read your score and compatibility interpretation.
  5. Try the other method for a different perspective.

For names, even changing the spelling or using a nickname can change the result because the letters themselves are part of the calculation.

✧

What Does Your Friendship Score Mean?

These ranges are the interpretation bands used by this calculator:

90–99% — Very Strong Match
This range suggests a naturally easy friendship with strong numerological compatibility.
70–89% — Solid Compatibility
There is plenty of common ground, while differences can still make the friendship interesting.
50–69% — Moderate Compatibility
The friendship may work well with some patience, communication and give-and-take.
Below 50% — Contrast-Heavy Match
The two profiles appear more different in numerology terms. That does not mean the friendship cannot work.

These ranges are simply the calculator’s interpretation system. They are not scientifically validated friendship thresholds.

✧

Friendship Calculator vs. FLAMES Calculator

A friendship calculator and a FLAMES calculator are related only in the sense that both are popular name-based relationship games.

Our Friendship Calculator produces a percentage score using numerology-inspired calculations.

A FLAMES Calculator uses the letters in two names, removes matching letters according to its traditional game rules, and then uses the remaining count to arrive at one of six outcomes:

Friends, Lovers, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, or Siblings.

So FLAMES gives you a category, while the friendship calculator gives you a percentage.

For the classic F-L-A-M-E-S game, use our dedicated FLAMES Calculator.

Friends Compatibility by Zodiac Sign

Name numerology and birth-date numerology are not the only ways people explore friendship compatibility.

Some people also compare friends using their zodiac signs. In astrology-based friendship matching, people may look at Sun signs, zodiac elements and traditional sign-to-sign compatibility.

The four commonly discussed elements are: Fire, Earth, Air and Water.

For example, people often describe Fire and Air combinations as energetic, while Earth and Water combinations are traditionally associated with steadiness and support.

Zodiac compatibility is a different approach from both the name and DOB modes on this page. The friendship calculator above uses numerology-based calculations, not zodiac signs.

✧

Is a Friendship Calculator Just a Prank?

It can be used as a prank or a fun game, but the calculation itself is deterministic.

The same information produces the same result because the formula does not generate a random percentage each time.

At the same time, the result should not be taken as proof of how strong a friendship really is. Real friendships depend on trust, communication, empathy, shared experiences and how people treat one another.

So think of the calculator as a fun compatibility test rather than a prediction about your actual relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you wanted to know about the friendship calculator.

Is this friendship calculator accurate?

It is consistent with the formula built into the calculator, meaning the same inputs return the same result. However, numerology is not a scientific method, so the percentage should be treated as entertainment rather than a scientifically proven measurement.

How is a friendship calculator different from a love calculator?

Both use similar numerology methods, but a love calculator’s interpretation is framed around romantic compatibility, while this one is framed specifically around platonic friendship.

What is the difference between a friendship calculator by names and one by date of birth?

A name-based calculator uses letters and numerical values from the names. A date-of-birth calculator uses the two birth dates to derive numerology numbers such as Life Path-style values. The inputs and calculation process are different.

Can I use the friendship calculator with only dates of birth?

Yes. Select the By Date of Birth mode and enter both complete birth dates. You do not need to enter names for the DOB calculation.

Can I use nicknames in the name calculator?

Yes. You can enter a nickname, first name or the name you normally use. Because the letters are part of the calculation, changing the spelling can change the result.

Does name order matter?

No. The calculation is symmetrical, so entering your name first or your friend’s name first produces the same score.

Why is my name score different from my DOB score?

The two modes use different information. The name method uses letter values and shared-letter overlap, while the DOB method uses birth-date-derived numbers. Different inputs can naturally produce different scores.

Is the friendship percentage scientifically proven?

No. The calculator is based on numerology traditions and a custom scoring formula. The percentage is intended for fun and self-reflection, not scientific prediction.

Is a friendship calculator a prank?

Many people use friendship calculators as a lighthearted prank, game or social activity. The result is repeatable rather than randomly generated, but it should still be treated as entertainment.

Can I compare more than two friends?

The calculator compares two people at a time. For a larger group, you can calculate each pair separately and compare the results.
